<h1 data-end="283" data-start="221">Nationwide Relief Operations Continue as Alkhidmat Reaches Thousands of Flood Victims</h1>

Lahore, September 23, 2025&nbsp;Alkhidmat Foundation has so far spent&nbsp;Rs1.10 billion&nbsp;on relief and rehabilitation activities for flood-affected communities across Pakistan, said&nbsp;Prof. Dr. Hafeez ur Rehman, President of Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan, while presiding over a review meeting of the ongoing Flood Rescue and Relief Operation.

CEO&nbsp;briefed participants on Alkhidmat&rsquo;s humanitarian efforts in 58 districts. Prof.&nbsp;Dr.&nbsp;Hafeez ur Rehman&nbsp;noted that in the first phase, only a few districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, and Azad Kashmir were affected. However, following cloudbursts, heavy rains, and river flooding after August 15, large parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, and other regions came under severe impact.

&nbsp;

He added that within hours of the August 15 emergency meeting, Alkhidmat volunteers launched rescue operations that have now continued for more than 40 days. During this period,&nbsp;16,421 volunteers&nbsp;conducted&nbsp;2,161 emergency rescue operations&nbsp;using&nbsp;31 boats&nbsp;and&nbsp;130 machinery units, safely relocating&nbsp;38,606 people&nbsp;to safer places.

&nbsp;

So far, the foundation has distributed&nbsp;424,051 cooked food boxes&nbsp;and provided&nbsp;monthly ration packages to 44,695 families. Fifteen tent villages were established, accommodating&nbsp;16,327 individuals&nbsp;with access to food, clean water, healthcare, schooling, play areas for children, and in some cases mosques and libraries.

In the health sector, Alkhidmat deployed&nbsp;eight mobile health units, set up&nbsp;767 medical camps, and operated&nbsp;60 ambulances, benefiting nearly&nbsp;200,000 patients and injured persons.

Prof. Dr. Hafeez ur Rehman&nbsp;said that with local infrastructure, sewerage systems, and water supply lines destroyed in many areas, Alkhidmat&rsquo;s&nbsp;WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene)&nbsp;programme had distributed&nbsp;359,984 water bottles, 4,776 hygiene kits, 4,023 dignity kits, 811 water tanks, and 3,869 jerry cans. Twelve mobile filtration plants continue to provide clean drinking water to affected populations.

He further added that beyond human needs, Alkhidmat also arranged fodder for livestock, supplying&nbsp;128 truckloads of feed&nbsp;in flood hit areas.

Alkhidmat Foundation Spends Rs1.10 Billion on Flood Relief and Rehabilitation Across Pakistan

<h1 dir="ltr">A Day That Shook a Nation</h1>

On the morning of 8th October 2005, life changed forever for millions of people in northern Pakistan and Azad Kashmir. At 8:50 a.m., a 7.6 magnitude earthquake struck with terrifying force. Within minutes, thousands of homes, schools, and hospitals collapsed. Families were buried under rubble, children lost their classrooms, and entire towns like Balakot and Bagh were wiped out.

The human loss was heartbreaking:

	Around 138,000 were injured.

Landslides blocked roads, villages were cut off, and freezing weather made survival even harder. It became one of the deadliest disasters in Pakistan&rsquo;s history.

<h2 dir="ltr">Why Was the Destruction So Severe?</h2>

The earthquake&rsquo;s epicenter was near Muzaffarabad in Azad Jammu &amp; Kashmir, about 15 km deep in the earth. The tremors lasted less than a minute, but poor building structures and the mountainous terrain turned it into a catastrophe.

	Schools and hospitals that were not quake-resistant collapsed immediately.

	Rescue teams struggled to reach survivors as landslides buried roads.

<h2 dir="ltr">The World Responds</h2>

The scale of the disaster drew global attention. Pakistan declared an emergency, and help poured in from across the world. International agencies sent helicopters, medical teams, and relief goods. Donors funded the rebuilding of schools, hospitals, and bridges. But in those first few days, when every minute meant saving lives, it was local volunteers, civil society, and community groups who were the first to act.

<h2 dir="ltr">Alkhidmat Foundation&rsquo;s Response</h2>

Among those on the ground was Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan. With its network of volunteers, Alkhidmat quickly mobilized to provide:

	Temporary shelters and tents for displaced communities.

For Alkhidmat, the 2005 earthquake was a turning point. It showed how vital it is to be prepared before disaster strikes, and it laid the foundation for the structured disaster management system the organization runs today.

The tragedy taught Pakistan painful but important lessons:

Every year,&nbsp;October 8th&nbsp;reminds us of both loss and resilience. It brings back the national tragedy of the&nbsp;2005 earthquake, reminding us of the children who never came home from school, and the scars left on millions of lives.

8th October 2005 Earthquake – Remembering Pakistan’s Darkest Morning

Khalid Waqas, President Alkhidmat Foundation Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, visited flood-affected areas of Jalalpur Pirwala in Multan district, Punjab, to review damages and oversee relief activities. He was accompanied by Disaster Management Manager Muhammad Waseem, Media Manager Noorul Wahid Jadoon, and other officials.

During the visit, the delegation inspected a model relief tent village of 300 tents established by Alkhidmat KP. The camp includes a tent school, a mobile water filtration plant, health dispensary, ambulance service, community kitchen, tandoor, and dining facilities. Separate arrangements have also been made for children&rsquo;s play areas and for livestock with fodder and shelter.

Alkhidmat KP volunteers, supported by 15 boats brought from Peshawar and Charsadda, have been rescuing stranded families from submerged villages for the past two weeks.

Speaking to flood victims, Khalid Waqas said Punjab had always stood with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in times of crisis. &ldquo;Now that Punjab is facing devastation, it is our moral responsibility to support its people. Relief operations will continue until families are rehabilitated,&rdquo; he said.

Alkhidmat KP President Visits Flood-Hit Areas in Multan’s Jalalpur Pirwala

Alkhidmat Foundation Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Friday announced the launch of the Bano Qabil Fall 2025 session (Phase 2) in the province, with plans to expand its training network from the current 20 centers to 50, covering every district including central and southern regions. 
At a press briefing held at the provincial office, Khalid Waqas, President of Alkhidmat Foundation Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, said the program provides free IT and digital skills training. In the first phase, more than 25,000 candidates appeared for the aptitude test, with nearly 20,000 enrolled in campuses across the province. 
He said registration for the new session has begun and students can apply through the online portal. Unlike the previous phase, no aptitude test would be conducted this time; instead, applicants would be interviewed before enrollment. The three-month courses will run from October 2025 to January 2026, with classes starting on October 15. 
Phase 2 will include training in web and app development, artificial intelligence, e-commerce, DevOps, video editing, and digital marketing. Certification will be offered in collaboration with KPBIT, LRN, NCHD, and Google.&nbsp; 
He announced that new centers would also be set up in Peshawar Press Club for journalists and their families, and a special class for the transgender community would provide basic computer training. A computer class will be launched for juveniles in Peshawar Central Jail, along with a separate Bano Qabil center for adult prisoners, who will undergo tests and interviews before enrollment. 
Waqas added that Bano Qabil had already trained thousands of students for the international market. &ldquo;With this new phase in KP, Alkhidmat Bano Qabil will focus on students from districts where infrastructure and market access are limited. It is a challenging task, but we are committed to it,&rdquo; he said. 
He further announced that in October a job fair will be organized for graduates who have already completed Bano Qabil&rsquo;s free IT courses, linking them with opportunities in the job market and freelance economy. 
Shakir Siddique, General Secretory AKF KP, Sohaibud Din Kakakhel, Director Bano Qabil, Arbab Abdul Haseeb, President AKF Peshawar were also present on&nbsp;the&nbsp;occasion.

Alkhidmat Launches Bano Qabil Fall 2025 in KP

Alkhidmat Foundation Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Wednesday dispatched eight truckloads of relief goods and a third team of volunteers to Punjab, where record floods have left nearly 70 percent of the province under water.

The convoy, which departed from Peshawar, carried dry rations, winter packages, kitchen sets, blankets, children&rsquo;s clothing, footwear, and other essential supplies.

At a send-off ceremony at Markaz Islami, Jamaa-e-Islami KP Central Ameer Abdul Wasi, Alkhidmat provincial President Khalid Waqas, provincial General Secretory Muhammad Shakir Siddiqui, Regional Manager KP Dr. Shakeel Ahmad, district President Arbab Abdul Haseeb and senior officials oversaw the departure of the trucks loaded with relief teams.

Speaking at the event, Wasi recalled how Punjab residents had supported Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in past disasters. &ldquo;Now that Punjab is drowning, we will not leave our brothers and sisters alone,&rdquo; he said. 
Khalid Waqas, on the occasion, said &ldquo;Whenever disaster struck Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, people across Pakistan particularly from Punjab extended their full support. Relief efforts for Punjab&rsquo;s flood victims are continuing, while Alkhidmat Khyber Pakhtunkhwa&rsquo;s rescue teams and boats remain engaged in rescue operations and aid activities in the affected areas.

It&#39;s pertinent to mention that Alkhidmat has already set up a tent village in Multan and deployed 15 boats for rescue operations across submerged districts. The foundation also pledged that relief and rehabilitation efforts in Punjab would continue in the weeks ahead.
